Wanda Sykes headlined the gala, which also featured actor/producer/director Michael Urie (“Ugly Betty,” The Temperamentals, Angels in America), composer/singer Lance Horne (whose debut CD solo recording, "First Things Last," was launched at Lincoln Center and at London’s Garrick Theatre), Cortés Alexander (The Tonics, Liza’s at the Palace), Justin Bond (Kiki and Herb), Emily McNamara (host of Musical Mondays at Splash!) and Marty Thomas (Xanadu, Wicked).
The production will include Bernstein’s incidental music for Lillian Hellman’s adaptation of The Lark, and Menotti’s The Unicorn, The Gorgon, and The Manticore.
Based on the novel and film by Frank Cottrell Boyce, the new musical will reunite Guettel with Tony-winning Light in the Piazza director Bartlett Sher.
