News PHOTO EXCLUSIVE: Euan Morton, Jill Paice and Jeremy Kushnier Rehearse Chess in VA Euan Morton (Taboo), Jill Paice (Curtains) and Jeremy Kushnier (Rent) lead the cast of the Signature Theatre's staging of Chess, set to begin previews Aug. 10 in Arlington, VA.

The Broadway favorites play Anatoly, Florence and Freddie, respectively, in the 1984 musical boasting a score by composers Björn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson and lyrics by Tim Rice.

Also featured in the cast are Eleasha Gamble (Svetlana), along with Christopher Bloch (Molokov), Russell Sunday (Walter) and Chris Sizemore (Arbiter).

"The 1984 cult musical of Cold War competition in love and chess is being given its first major U.S. production since 1995 and is the very first professional Washington-area production," according to Signature.

Production notes describe the work this way: "Two international chess masters—one American, one Russian—compete for the world championship only to find that their greatest contest is for the love of the same woman. Amidst political intrigue and international conspiracies, Freddie and Anatoly fight to take the queen in a romantic triangle that mirrors the heightened passions of the Cold War."

Chess features the hit single "One Night in Bangkok," and such tunes as "Anthem," "I Know Him So Well," "Nobody's Side" and "Pity the Child."

Performances are scheduled through Sept. 26 at the Tony Award-winning Arlington, VA theatre.
