Brown burst to prominence in 2004 when she sang Aida at the Metropolitan Opera and was greeted ecstatically by critics. She has since appeared in the world premiere of Richard Danielpour's Margaret Garner.

Opera Pacific's opening-night cast also included tenor Carl Tanner as Radames and Milena Kitic as Amneris. John DeMain conducted; Michle Assaf is the director. The production runs through April 23.
