Classic Arts News Photo Journal: Das Rheingold at Washington National Opera Washington National Opera debuted Francesca Zambello's production of Wagner's Das Rheingold, the first installment of the company's "American Ring," on March 25.
The WNO's staging, a co-production with San Francisco Opera, is directed by Zambello, with sets by Michael Yeargan and costumes by Anita Yavich.

The cast includes Robert Hale as Wotan, Robin Leggate as Loge, Gordon Hawkins as Alberich, Elizabeth Bishop as Fricka, and Elena Zaremba as Erda. WNO music director Heinz Fricke is the conductor.

Das Rheingold runs through April 14. The cycle will continue next season with a production of Die Walk‹re starring Domingo.
