Classic Arts News Photo Journal: Les Liaisons Dangereuses at Sadler's Wells Adam Cooper's ballet Les Liaisons dangereuses premiered at London's Sadler's Wells last month and runs through August 14.
The dance, based on Pierre Choderlos de Laclos's 1782 novel, tells the story of Marquise de Merteuil and Vicomte de Valmont, ex-lovers who scheme to humiliate their fellow aristocrats, and eventually betray each other.

Cooper, who is a former dancer with the Royal Ballet and also performed in Matthew Bourne's Swan Lake, stars as Valmont as well as producing, directing, and choreographing the ballet. The design is by Lez Brotherston, a frequent collaborator of Bourne's; the music is by Philip Feney.

Sarah Barron is Marquise de Merteuil; Sarah Wildor plays Madame de Tourvel. Helen Dixon is the young C_cile.
