Classic Arts News Photo Journal: Rachel Portman's The Little Prince at New York City Opera The Little Prince, Rachel Portman's 2003 opera based on Antoine de Saint-Exup_ry's beloved book, opened at New York City Opera on November 12.
The production was created by Francesca Zambello, who staged the opera for its world premiere in Houston and later filmed it for the BBC; Sarah Meyers is the stage director. Sets and costumes are by Maria Bjêªrnson. Lighting is by Rick Fisher.

The libretto is by Nicholas Wright.

The cast for the opening performance on the afternoon of November 12 included Graham Phillips in the title role, Stephanie Styles as the Rose, Keith Phares as the Pilot, Hanan Alattar as the Water, and Jennifer Tiller as the Fox. Jeffrey Allison alternates with Phillips in the title role and Daryl Rothman alternates with Styles.

The Little Prince runs through November 20.
