An estimated 13,000 people turned out for a video simulcast of Washington National Opera's Porgy and Bess on the National Mall on November 6.

The throngs of opera fans watched the performance on an 18-by-32-foot screen. The WNO production starred Gordon Hawkins and Indira Mahajan in the title roles, Terry Cook as Crown, and Jermaine Smith as Sportin' Life. Wayne Marshall conducted; Francesca Zambello is the director.

The WNO's production will also be heard on a live national radio broadcast on November 12. Check local listings.
