The 2007 Local One Strike

The strike by Local One - the stagehands union - shut down most of Broadway from Nov. 10-28, costing New York tens of millions of dollars in lost tourism revenue. Perhaps the photo op of the entire strike occured on the first day of the walkout: due to its early 11am curtain on Nov. 10, Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas was the first show impacted, offering the media ample shots of crying children being turned away from the St. James theatre while picketers marched under the Grinch marquee.
