In October 2013, Judith was elected to MCC Theater's board of directors. She began her relationship with MCC in 1999 with the acclaimed drama Wit.

"I am thrilled to join MCC Theater’s board of directors," Light said in a statement. "Since appearing in their productions of Wit and Colder than Here, MCC for me is really my home. Theirs is a culture of excitement and passion and great creativity that's infectious. You want to be a part of it. Joining the board at this time of unprecedented growth for the organization gives me the opportunity to more deeply involve myself in MCC's work, especially its extraordinary commitment to students, as evidenced by its thriving Youth Company and education programs. When you start bringing young people early into the arts, as MCC does so spectacularly, you change the dynamic of their lives and of future generations. MCC's work—both onstage and off—is very near to my heart, and it’s my honor to contribute to such a legacy of excellence."
