The ever-busy Neil Patrick Harris, who won the 2014 Tony Award for his performance in Hedwig and the Angry Inch, will host the upcoming 2015 Oscars and has signed a deal with NBC to host a new variety show. Harris — who rose to fame as the young star of "Doogie Howser, M.D." — has had quite a stage career. Here's a look back, including some rare photos for the occasion.

Harris has performed on Broadway in Proof, Cabaret and Assassins and in the New York Philharmonic production of Company. He is a three-time Emmy Award winner for his guest-starring role on "Glee" and as host of the 63rd and 65th Annual Tony Awards. He also served as host and producer of the 61st Primetime Emmy Awards, as well as the 66th and 67th Annual Tony Awards.
