Award-winning actress-director Phylicia Rashad has been cast in a recurring role on the third season of the dramatic music series Empire, according to Deadline.com.
Rashad will play Diana Dubois, whose son Angelo is played by stage and screen actor Taye Diggs.
Known for her Emmy and Tony-winning acting roles, Rashad is an accomplished stage director. She recently directed a revival of August Wilson’s Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, starring Lillias White, which begins August 31 at the Center Theatre Group in Los Angeles.
