News Physician Volunteers Hold Free NYC Screening Day For Entertainment Pros June 22 With summer starting up, actors, stage hands, musicians and other entertainment professionals in the theatre can check up on their health at the June 22 Health Screening Day to be held at The Actors' Fund Aurora residence. Physician Volunteers for the Arts will handle the check-ups, which will include tests for blood pressure, blood sugar/diabetes and cholesterol levels.

With summer starting up, actors, stage hands, musicians and other entertainment professionals in the theatre can check up on their health at the June 22 Health Screening Day to be held at The Actors' Fund Aurora residence. Physician Volunteers for the Arts will handle the check-ups, which will include tests for blood pressure, blood sugar/diabetes and cholesterol levels.

Also the first 40 uninsured or underinsured women, ages 40-65, to register will get a free mammogram. To schedule an appointment (please specify June 22 at the Aurora), call (800) 564-6868.

There is no need for an appointment for all other screenings that day.

This is the first of four annual PVA screenings. The next Health Screening Day will be in Oct., 2000 with free flu shots for the winter season.

Physician Volunteers for the Arts is a free medical clinic for entertainment professionals, sponsored by The Actor's Fund of America and Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. The Aurora residence is located at 472 West 57th Street.
