The 7 PM concert will spotlight the talents of Kimberly Chesser, Marisa Dargahi, Leslie Henstock, Addi McDaniel and Sara Weiss. The evening's guest composer will be Jeremy Schoenfeld, who will accompany the performers on material from his theatre/pop songbook. The musical director will be Barbara Anselmi. Jeremy Schonfeld is known for blending tuneful pop, hard-edged rock, gospel, soul and blues. He's been compared to Billy Joel and Jonathan Larson. Schonfeld is a graduate of the Berklee College of Music and BMI-Lehman Engel Musical Theater Workshop.
The album for his musical Drift (with Craig Pospisil) was released by Sh-K-Boom Records. That show was seen at the 2006 New York Musical Theatre Festival. Schonfeld will begin development on The Dead Wives Club (with collaborator Amy Fox) shortly, and he was recently commissioned by the Musical Development Fund to create a new musical to be named. Other recent theatrical projects include Ministry of Progress at Jane Street Theater (composer/lyricist); Home at the Minetta Lane (book/music/lyrics); and Letters to Katrina and Letters to Baghdad (contributing songwriter/performer), both at the Winter Harbor Theatre Company.
The New Voices series was founded by composer Scott Alan to "showcase some of today's brightest new talent in New York." Alan's debut recording, "Dreaming Wide Awake" — which features performances by Liz Callaway, Stephanie J. Block, Eden Espinosa, Cheyenne Jackson and Jonathan Groff, among others — is available by visiting www.scottalan.net.
