The opening of the Gate Theatre's much praised production of Pinter's The Homecoming, at the Comedy Theatre, has moved up a few days. Previews will now commence Sept. 17 for an opening moved from Sept. 13 to Sept. 19. Ian Holm is reported to have gone into hospital for 'a minor operation'. The Homecoming had a successful run at The Gate Theatre in Dublin during June of this year before travelling to the Lincoln Centre Festival in New York as part of the Harold Pinter Festival last month. The Irish Times described the produciton as "mesmeric" and Pinter himself declared it to be the best production of the play he has ever seen.

Pinter's darkly comic family drama was first seen in London in 1965, with Sir Ian Holm in the role of Lenny in Peter Hall's original production. Sir Ian now stars as Max, the bullying father in this production directed by Robin Lefevre. The cast includes Lia Williams, Nick Dunning, John Kavanagh, Jason O'Mara, and Ian Hart.
