News Pirate Queen's Block to Return to Birdland Stephanie J. Block, the Broadway belter most recently seen in The Pirate Queen, will return to the Birdland stage in August.

Block will play the famed jazz club Aug. 27 at 7 PM. The singing actress will offer an evening of standards as well as a ballad cut from Wicked and a medley of tunes from the sixties. She will also perform a few duets with musical director Billy Stritch.

Stephanie J. Block was most recently on Broadway in the new musical The Pirate Queen, which ended its run June 17. The singing actress created the role of Liza Minnelli in the Peter Allen biomusical The Boy From Oz. She portrayed Elphaba in the national tour of Wicked, earning a Helen Hayes Award for her performance. Block's regional credits include Funny Girl, Crazy for You (L.A. Ovation Award nomination), Oliver (Critics Award, Best Actress) and James Joyce's The Dead.
