News Pirates' Farah Alvin Sings Uptown Gig Jan. 4 Farah Alvin, the actress-singer who was Mabel in Goodspeed Musicals' recent Pirates of Penzance, will sing new tunes and covers at The New Leaf Café in Fort Tryon Park in Manhattan Jan. 4, 2007.

She'll perform three sets 8-11 PM. Matt Sherwin will be on guitar and Dave Hertzberg on bass. Alvin, whose New York credits include Kuni-Leml and The Look of Love, will sing her own songs from her album, "Someday," as well as "a ton of new stuff" and some standards.

New Leaf Café, at One Margaret Corbin Drive, in Fort Tryon Park, is near the 190th stop on the A subway train. For information call (212) 568-5323. There is no cover charge.
