Pittsburgh Public Theater will present Rebecca Gilman's race themed play, Spinning Into Butter, instead of the previously-announced Copenhagen, June 7-July 8.
Scheduling restrictions with the Copenhagen producers in New York prevented the Pittsburgh premiere of the play by Michael Frayn.
Gilman's controversial play concerns a dean of students at a New England college where a racial incident sparks controversy and self-searching. Pittsburgh Public artistic director Ted Pappas said former artistic director Edward Gilbert will direct.
Spinning Into Butter will close the 2000-2001 season there.
