News P.J. Griffith and Christina Sajous Join Beyond the Music Lab Presentation P.J. Griffith and Christina Sajous have joined the lab presentation of the new musical Beyond the Music — about a struggling young female songwriter who gets the chance of a lifetime — which will take place in late January.

Griffith, who recently appeared in the Off-Broadway premiere of Giant, and Sajous, of Broadway's American Idiot and Off-Broadway's Forever Dusty, join a cast that also includes Tony Award winner Karen Ziemba (Curtains, Chicago), Claybourne Elder (Road Show, Bonnie & Clyde), Katie Rose Clarke (Wicked, Light in the Piazza), Rob Bartlett (How to Succeed...), Eric Anderson, Shelby Bartelstein, Angela Brydon, Jarid Faubel, Semhar Gebremichael, John Hemphill, Ryan Koss, Kathleen Rooney, Casey Lee Ross, Laura L. Thomas, Mariand Torres and Seth Tucker.

Tony Award-winning Hair producer Andy Sandberg wrote the book for Beyond the Music, which has a score by Emmy Award-winning songwriter Cliff Downs and actress/writer Katie Kahanovitz. Sandberg (The Last Smoker in America) also directs the work, which will be presented Jan. 28-29.

Beyond the Music has received several developmental readings and workshops over the past few years.

According to the creators, "Beyond the Music follows the journey of Casey, a fast-rising singer/songwriter, as she struggles to find success in the music business. Ready to risk it all, Casey sacrifices her personal life for her career, but on the verge of her first big break, she is betrayed by those she trusts. Now, in order to reclaim her dreams, she must look inside herself as she navigates the treacherous waters of the music business and reconnects with those she left behind."

Beyond the Music will have choreography by AC Ciulla and music supervision and arrangements by Fred Lassen. It is produced by BTM Productions LLC and ShowWorks LLC, in association with Tanya Grubich/TMGLive Entertainment and Wolfe Theatricals. View the teaser for the musical here:
