The 89th Annual Academy Awards air February 26, and this year’s nominees feature numerous stage names, including composing team Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, nominated against themselves in the Original Song category for La La Land’s “City of Stars” and “Audition (The Fools Who Dream).” The duo faces off against J. Ralph and Sting (who made his Broadway composing debut with The Last Ship) for “The Empty Chair” from Jim: The James Foley Story, Lin-Manuel Miranda for “How Far I’ll Go” from Disney’s Moana, and Justin Timberlake, Max Martin, and Karl Johan Schuster for “Can’t Stop the Feeling” from Trolls. The full score for La La Land is also nominated for Original Score. To gear up for Hollywood’s biggest night, this week’s Playbill Mixtape features an homage to movie musicals.

For all of your ear candy needs, follow Playbill on Spotify. And don’t forget the La La Land full soundtrack is now available at the Playbill Store.
