A FEW NOTES ON OUR NEW SYSTEM
Welcome to the newly upgraded Playbill On-Line Chat and Message Boards. Thank you for your patience as we have made this difficult transition. The following paragraphs answer some of the many questions that I have received lately. These should make your visit a little more enjoyable:
1) Many of you have asked why we have re-instituted the use of IDs and passwords. Recently, several visitors to our site decided it would be fun to use obscene or indecent language. By using an ID and a password we are better able to track these visitors and remove their access to our chat room. Strong opinions on theatrical subjects are encouraged and will not be censored or edited. However, commercial, obscene or abusive messages will be removed without notice. Playbill reserves the right to decide which messages meet those criteria. If you would like to report an offending note, please e-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org. Please remember that your ID and password for chat and message boards has nothing to do with your club ID and password. To get yourself a new ID and password please select "Choose a new login" from the sign-in screen. Even if you got a new ID and password on our system last week you may be required to do this again due to the volume of change that has taken place over the past few days. We're sorry for that inconvenience.
2) Many of you have written to us and expressed unhappiness about the new frames layout in the message boards. While we feel that you will ultimately find this layout more easy to navigate we also understand that frames may slow some users down. Please notice that once you log into the message boards you can turn off the frames option by selecting "Frames Off" from the upper left box.
3) Many of you have also written to me about messages being deleted from the message boards. Similar to newsgroups on the internet, messages on this message board will be removed after a certain period of time. Due to the volume of messages we get on these boards this is a necessity. We will NOT be doing this with the Playbill Critics Circle message board, however. 4) There has been some confusion about how to reach the message boards from the login screen. Please read the screen carefully and you will see that "Message Boards" is one of the options available.
Thanks for taking the time to read this and enjoy our new message boards and chat.
