Legacy Falls, which features a book by James Burn and Ian Poitier and a score by Burns, is offered July 17 at 1 PM, July 19 at 8 PM, July 20 at 5 PM and July 24 at 9 PM.

Here's how NYMF bills the musical: "Legacy Falls is the side-splitting new musical that dishes the dirt on soaps. Will there be hirings and firings? Will there be backstabbing and bitchiness? Will there be romances and hair-pulling catfights? Will there be a slightly unrealistic onscreen earthquake? Yes…Yes, there will be. Tune in to this tuneful frolic through the on- and off-screen drama of America’s favorite daytime soap opera, Legacy Falls!"

Since Spirtas, a soap opera star, is among the cast of the soap-inspired musical, Playbill.com has asked the actor to pick his favorite songs from or relating to soap operas and tell us why they made his list.

The cast also features Wilson Bridges, Nikki Van Cassele, Liz Fye, Jonathan Hawkins, Jacob Hoffman, Dennis Holland, Tara Hugo, Christy Morton, Joe Paparella, Erin Leigh Peck and Rachel Stern.

"The Sweetest of Nights and the Finest of Days" (Shelly Markham and Judith Viorst). This is the perfect wedding song, which I actually sang on "Days of Our Lives" at my fictional daughter Chloe's wedding.

Diana Ross and Lionel Richie's "Endless Love." Because all love affairs in soap land intend to be forever and endless.

"Witchy Woman" (Eagles). In today's soap world there's always a witchy diva – or a real witch!!

"Up Where We Belong" (Jennifer Warnes and Joe Cocker). Who can't fall in love with that song playing?

"Run to You" – This Whitney Houston track is soooooo very super couple of the 90s song.

The classic "Making Whoopee" (Eddie Cantor). Because it is the crazy world of soap, EVERYONE is making whoopee…with everyone.

"The Rose" (written by Amanda McBroom). Exactly like Patch did for Kayla in sign language on "Days" when Kayla lost her hearing — simply gorgeous!

Vanessa Williams' "Save the Best for Last" and Gloria Loring's "Friends and Lovers." These two divas' songs fit the soap world palette to a "Tee."

Barry Manilow's "Even Now." And, of course, the King because he's the most romantic composer of all time and what is love without a great key change…or two!

"Love Of My Life" (Jim Brickman). I was honored to work with Jim on his PBS special "Love Songs & Lullabies." I heard him sing this song, and at that time I learned it actually debuted on a little soap opera called "Days of Our Lives"!! Go figure.
