Readers Respond The role of Nick Arnstein, imprisoned husband of Fanny Brice, was originated on Broadway by Sydney Chaplin and later played on film by Omar Sharif. With talk of Ryan Murphy securing the rights for a revival of Jule Styne and Bob Merrill's Tony-nominated musical — possibly with his "Glee" star Lea Michele in the title role — we wondered: Who should play Nick in a revival of Funny Girl?

Jackman won the Tony Award for Best Leading Actor in a Musical for his performance in The Boy from Oz and has also been seen on Broadway in the two-hander Steady Rain and his critically acclaimed solo show Hugh Jackman, Back on Broadway. In 2012 the Australian native was awarded a Special Tony Award for Extraordinary Contribution to the Theatre Community. Jackman also played Jean Valjean in the film adaptation of Les Miserables, for which he won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Comedy or Musical. He is also scheduled to host the 68th Annual Tony Awards.

Max von Essen was last on Broadway playing Magaldi in the revival of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's Evita. His Broadway credits also include Les Miserables, Dance of the Vampires and Jesus Christ Superstar.
