Alan Cumming

Full given name: Alan Cumming
Hometown: NYC, baby
Zodiac sign: Aquarius
Audition song/monologue: Thankfully it is a long time since I have had to do a song or a monologue. I would never work if I did. I guess I would do a song from Cabaret or a speech from Hamlet because I know them both.
Special skills: Good at chatting.
First Broadway show ever saw: How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying
If you could go back in time and catch any Broadway show, what would it be? I would love to have seen the Lunts do something, perhaps Design for Living which they did with Noel Coward. Also, I would love to have seen something with Ethel Merman to see if it was as intense an experience as I imagine.
Favorite show tune: "With One Look" from Sunset Boulevard. I always think about it when I am on a movie set and have a big scene to do and am feeling a little nervy.
MAC or PC? Mac, now and forever
Most played song on your iPod: I am obsessed with Britney's new album. I have a bootleg so don't know the names of the tracks, but my favourite is the one that goes "I'm in love with you and everything that you are." I think the fact that Britney has managed to produce such an amazing pop album whilst undergoing a huge personal crisis is absolutely stunning. I'm being serious, really. It's astounding.
One CD you couldn't live without: I could live without.
Last book you read: "How to Open a Bar for Dummies"
Must-see TV show: "Little Britain"
Last good movie you saw: "No Country For Old Men"
Favorite board/card game: Taboo. I am in the celebrity edition!!!
Performer you would drop everything to go see: Liza
First stage kiss: In Brian Friel's Lovers at Carnoustie Library in 1982
Favorite pre-show meal: When I am on Broadway, I love going to Tony DiNapoli's or Cafe 123. Both places are so friendly and great places to meet people and stock up on your carbs.
How you got your Equity card: I did stand-up comedy and once dressed as a clown in a shopping center.
Worst missed cue: When I was in The Threepenny opera recently, one of the actors fell asleep in their dressing room and I was left onstage for many minutes ad-libbing and chatting to the audience.
Worst costume ever: Well, when I played the Pope in Jean Genet's Elle, I wore a creation by Vivienne Westwood that had no back and so there was a bit when I turned round and the audience saw my bum. I really liked the costume in an objective way, but I hated having to be conscious of not letting anyone see my back before the big moment. I grew to hate it.
Cats or dogs? Dogs
Favorite cereal: Granola
Who would play you in the movie? Noel Coward
Worst job you ever had: I once spent a summer doing a puppet show in kindergartens around the Shetland Islands.
What movie you've been in would make a great musical? "Romy and Michele's High School Reunion" or "Titus"
