Elizabeth Stanley

Full given name: Elizabeth Stanley
Hometown: Camp Point, IL (Pop. 1,000)
Zodiac sign: Sagittarius
Audition song: “Hound Dog” seems to be a lucky tune for me.
Special skills: Piano, oboe, tuba, baker, and crafter!
First Broadway show ever saw: The Scarlet Pimpernel
If you could go back in time and catch any Broadway show, what would it be? To see anything in Broadway’s true Golden Era would be really thrilling… But, I must say I am a big Julie Andrews fan and I would love to have seen her in My Fair Lady (ironically on Broadway in 1956, when the actual Million Dollar Quartet was meeting up at Sun Studios!).
Current show you have been recommending to friends: Next Fall - a MUST see!! I saw it Off-Broadway and can’t wait for my schedule to open up so I can see it on Broadway again and again! Stunning script, actors, and direction! Not to be missed!
Favorite showtune: So many, but I do have a special fondness for "Good Morning, Starshine" from Hair, and "Muddy Water" from Big River. Hairspray also gets a lot of playtime on my iPod; it’s just so happy!
Most played song on your iPod: "I'm on a Roll" by Over the Rhine. Also, all of Levi's (he plays Jerry Lee Lewis) album "Where I Belong" - I LOVE IT. I seriously have played it probably 50 times in the past 48 hours. I told him I feel like a teenage stalker every time I walk by his dressing room. I’m so in awe of him! DOWNLOAD IT!
Web obsession: Pandora! My uncle introduced me to it a couple years ago. Changed my life!
Last book you read: Been revisiting the writings of Rumi lately.
Must-see TV show: "Modern Family"
Last good movie you saw: I'm reallllllly behind on my movie watching…but I most recently watched "Love Me Tender" to check out Elvis' first appearance on the silver screen.
Favorite board game: I've enjoyed a reprise of Scrabble in my life again lately.
Performer you would drop everything to go see: Joni Mitchell
Pop culture guilty pleasure: I have a weakness for Hello Kitty, she's just so cute.
First stage kiss: I believe it was in a production of Beauty and the Beast, when I was about 14?
Favorite pre-show meal: I'm really in love with Chop't and go there nearly every day. I've been eating ½ a salad before the show, and the other half after… also obsessed with their lemonade—the BEST!
How you got your Equity card: I got my card doing summer stock at Theatre by the Sea in Rhode Island. I played Ariel opposite Matt Cavenaugh in Footloose. In that same contract, I was the swing for Smokey Joe’s Café (I even went on for the BJ track and got to sing "Hound Dog," which is what I sang in my audition for MDQ!!)
Worst flubbed line: From Xanadu, the line should have been: "...the stage adaptation of the inferior cinematic offering..." But after a two-week hiatus, during the first show back, my mind went blank on this heightened muse-style language, and what I said instead was “... the... inferior... stage... MOVIE......" It felt like a foreign film where suddenly there is a word like "McDonalds" amongst a bunch of Japanese! Many many apologies to Douglas Carter Beane!
Worst costume ever: I was once handed a garbage bag full of wigs and told to find one that I liked for the show…. I loved that mullet. wink
Favorite junk food: Hard to choose: I love candy, especially chocolate. Hot Tamales are also a secret love. wink But sometimes I also neeeeeeeeeed to shove nachos in my face! (Don’t be fooled by my "I love salad" for pre-show meal answer!)
Who would play you in the movie? Hmmmm…maybe the love child of Katherine Heigl and Natalie Maines?
Worst job you ever had: I once did summer stock at a theatre where there was a mushroom growing in the shower. I secretly enjoyed that this made it feel like an outdoor shower.
TV or commercial gig you most enjoyed: I played a victim on the first episode of "Fringe" and it was really fun to be on the set as it was all beginning. Also cool because they made a dummy of my upper body so they could remove my eyeball from my head as part of the crime solving!
Leading lady role you've been dying to play I’ve always wanted to play Evita.
