The Mexican-born actress' Broadway credits include Chicago and The Pajama Game. Her portrayal of Roxie Hart won her a Helen Hayes Award, and she received an IRNE for playing Rose Alvarez in Bye Bye Birdie.

Worst onstage mishap: Phantom of the Opera in Mexico City. I was on as Meg Giry, climbing down gate at end of show. Harness got stuck, emergency brake triggered about 6 feet from floor... I panicked! I managed to unhook myself and jumped. Made it! Was able to finish show!
Worst costume ever: Stinky monkey suit in Phantom of the Opera

Favorite junk food: Oreos; Strawberry and coconut blizzard at Dairy Queen
Who would play you in the movie? Me! [Laughs.] Or Christina Applegate.
Worst job you ever had: Modeling at a restaurant, going table to table explaining who designed my entire outfit. A clothing store had a deal with them. Ladies lunching there could care less and were sometimes very rude. I hated to interrupt their conversations, but that was the job and I had to develop a charming skill for it.
TV or commercial gig you most enjoyed: A Spanish Olive Garden commercial, and playing Yolanda Rios in "One Life to Live"
Leading lady role you've been dying to play: Evita
Who have you played on "Law & Order"? I'm probably the only Broadway actress who hasn't done "Law and Order"! [Laughs.]
