Karine Plantadit

Full given name: Karine Noelle Daniele Plantadit
Hometown: Cannes & Aix en Provence, France
Special skills: Surfing, water skiing
First Broadway show ever saw: Cats on tour and the original production of Ragtime on Broadway
If you could go back in time and catch any Broadway show, what would it be? The original A Chorus Line
Current show you have been recommending to friends: Fela!
Favorite show tune: "In a Very Unusual Way" from Nine
Most played song on your iPod: "How Could You Believe Me" sung by Eartha Kitt
Web obsession: Travel sites and shoe sites
Last book you read: "Women Who Run With the Wolves"
Last good movie you saw: "Precious"
Favorite board game: Pictionary
Performer you would drop everything to go see: Tina Turner
First stage kiss: Ian Carney in Movin' Out — it was awesome!
Favorite pre-show meal: A favorite pre-show meal is grilled salmon on mache.
How you got your Equity card: The Lion King
Worst onstage mishap: I fell into the audience in Movin' Out and took my partner with me. We ended up in the two empty seats in the middle of the first row. Then he pulled me back on stage and we continued the scene. Some members of the audience thought it was part of the show and that those seats were held empty for us to fall into at every performance.
Worst costume ever: My worst costume was having to dress as a tomato for a fast food commercial. The avocado, the onion and me (the tomato) were auditioning to be part of a new up-and-coming season sandwich!
Pet's name: My cat Maurice
Favorite junk food: Peanut M & Ms
Worst job you ever had: At age 15, I was an overnight baker in Aix en Provence in France. I had trouble staying awake so I burned all the croissants.
TV or commercial gig you most enjoyed: "Sex and the City" was amazing because of the energy of the entire cast and crew. Sarah Jessica Parker was an absolute treasure to work with and the joy of the entire company was incredible. Lenscrafters was a great commercial to shoot – the people in charge were very professional and brilliant. Happily it ran for about 2 years so I made some money too.
Leading lady role you've been dying to play: Any roles that Pedro Almodovar, Spike Lee, Julie Taymor or Martin Scorsese would like me to play.
What classic story would make for a great dance theatre piece? "The Little Prince," "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" and "The Ugly Duckling."
