Malcolm Gets
Malcolm Gets

Full given name: Born Hugh Malcolm Gerard Gets, went by Hugh/Hughie until the third grade
Hometown: Gainesville, Florida (born in Chicago, raised in Gville)
Zodiac sign: Capricorn
Audition song: The past number of years, usually sing from show auditioning for. In the old days, I used to sing "Frozen Man" by James Taylor.
Special skills: Piano, French Horn, tap dance on roller skates...
First Broadway show ever saw: The Wiz
If you could go back in time and catch any Broadway show, what would it be? Funny Girl with Streisand at the Winter Garden, or A Chorus Line Off-Broadway at the Public
Current show you have been recommending to friends: August: Osage County - A riot, fantastically acted, and perfectly directed by my school-chum, Anna Shapiro
Favorite show tune: Impossible to pick one..."Who Are You Now," from Funny Girl, or "What's the Use of Wond'rin," from Carousel
Most played song on your iPod: Hmmm... "These Words (I Love You, I Love You)" by Natasha Bedingfield, totally uplifting
Last book you read: "Old Filth" by Jane Gardam, fantastic
Must-see TV show: "American Justice" on A&E — I am obsessed with real-life crime shows
Last good movie you saw: "Milk" So grateful someone finally told that incredible story, and the timing is perfect.
Favorite board game: Monopoly
Performer you would drop everything to go see: Rickie Lee Jones
Pop culture guilty pleasure: "Project Runway" — it's like Crack (I imagine)
First stage kiss: Hmmm... there have been so many... I think Barbara Kerns in Pippin at the University of Florida in 1905
Favorite pre-show meal: Veggie burger and some greens and tea
How you got your Equity card: Cast as Mozart in Amadeus when I was 19. The best play — I played most of the music live on a real piano-forte.
Worst flubbed line: Playing Seymour in Little Shop, in last number, instead of singing "Hold your hat and hang on to your soul...", I sang "Hold your hat and hang on to your hole..." I was completely exhausted, it just came out, and no one sang for 30 seconds after that, they were all laughing.
Who have you played on "Law & Order"? Which edition? "Black Tie," from Season Four — all my scenes were with Jerry Orbach and John McMartin; we sang most of the time.
Worst costume ever: Did They're Playing Our Song at ELT in 1985. There was a hideous sweater that got passed around to all the guys, who each rejected it, and I got stuck with it. At the closing night party, we burned it.
Cats or dogs? DOGS!!!
Favorite cereal: Wheaties
Who would play you in the movie? Barbra Streisand
Worst job you ever had: Standing by for Santa and Scrooge at Radio City, with no rehearsal time. I used to pray not to go on (I didn't).
TV or commercial gig you most enjoyed: Easy, playing Richard on "Caroline in the City," loved that show, loved that cast, and loved that character. Also, a two-week gig on "As the World Turns," playing a psychotic agent who tried to rape his client.
