News Players Club Served With Foreclosure Action; President Responds The Players Club, the historic organization devoted to artists and patrons of the arts, has been served with foreclosure action, DNAinfo.com reports.

The club has recently established a new leadership team, and its president, Arthur Makar, spoke with Playbill.com about the foreclosure.

"The new leadership of the Players is aware of the outstanding judgment and liens and we have developed a multi-faceted plan to reduce them in short order," Makar said.

The Players Club, which is located in a Greek Revival townhouse facing Gramercy Park, is modeled after London's famed Garrick Club and was the first American club of its kind. Its website identifies its purpose as "the promotion of social intercourse between members of the dramatic profession and the kindred professions of literature, painting, architecture, sculpture and music, law and medicine, and the patrons of the arts..."
