Roundabout Theatre Company's revival of The Rainmaker opened to a warm reception at the Brooks Atkinson Nov. 11.

Scott Ellis directs the revival of N. Richard Nash's classic, which stars Woody Harrelson as Starbuck and Jayne Atkinson as Lizzie. Also featured in the cast are David Aaron Baker, John Bedford Lloyd, Jerry Hardin, Randle Mell, and Bernie McInerney.

Playwright Nash came on stage Nov. 11 after curtain calls to share a standing ovation with the cast at the Brooks Atkinson. Nash greeted the audience with enthusiasm and, after being handed a bouquet of flowers, immediately presented them to Atkinson who seemed so touched by the moment that it brought tears to her eyes.

Harrelson and cast escorted the playwright from the stage slowly, enjoying the long applause but also taking care that Nash -- who uses a walking stick -- had safely negotiated the wet stage.

Rainmaker is the story of the handsome dreamer, Bill Starbuck, who arrives at the H.C. Curry farm just in time to distract everyone -- especially Curry's daughter, Lizzie -- from the prolonged drought they have been suffering.

Performances for The Rainmaker run Tue. - Sat. at 8 PM, with Wed., Sat., and Sun. matinees at 2 PM. For information call TicketMaster at (212) 307-4100 or visit the Brooks Atkinson Theatre Box Office at 256 West 47th Street.
