News Playwrights McKeever and Demos-Brown Win Actors' Playhouse Page to Stage Competition in Florida Actors' Playhouse at the Miracle Theatre in Coral Gables, FL, will explore two new plays in readings June 7 as part of its From Page to Stage playwriting competition.

The two winning scripts selected for the free public reading are Unreasonable Doubt by Michael McKeever (3 PM June 7) and When the Sun Shone Brighter by Christopher Demos-Brown (7 PM June 7).

In McKeever's play, "Unable to touch the man who savagely murdered his daughter, Ty Bosworth does the next best thing: He kidnaps the lawyer who put the killer on the street. Revenge, redemption and blind justice all intersect in McKeever's thought-provoking drama."

Demos-Brown's new drama "examines a political candidate's struggle between ambition and truth against the backdrop of the first terror attacks on U.S. — not 9/11, but the Cuban-exile bombing campaign of the 1970s and 80s. This is a fascinating episode in American history that is virtually unknown outside of South Florida but is directly relevant to events that are shaping our political landscape today."

Post-reading discussions will be held with the director and authors.

Tickets to this event are complimentary with reservations. Actors' Playhouse at the Miracle Theatre is located at 280 Miracle Mile, Coral Gables, FL. Call (305) 444-9293, ext. 600 or e-mail [email protected]. *
