"At The Playwrights Realm we believe first and foremost that great plays begin with great playwrights, and we are committed to providing a nurturing environment for the playwrights we work with," artistic director Katherine Kovner said in a statement. "A huge part of that is connecting them with the audience for their plays and helping to build a larger community to support them. The '1 to 5 Ticket Drive' is an initiative we are pleased to offer to ticket buyers in hopes that by removing financial barriers the work of emerging talents like Lauren Yee can be seen by as many people as possible."
Here's how the show is billed: "A young woman (Thompson) moves in with her boyfriend (Harts) expecting domestic bliss, but instead has trouble getting comfortable. Her strange new home seems determined to help out — and soon the walls (Byrne) are talking. They reveal the magical tale of an old hat-maker (Margulies) and his long-suffering wife (Kurtz), who runs away with his favorite hat." The creative team includes scenic design by Carolyn Mraz, costume design by Michael Krass, lighting design by Amith Chandrashaker and sound design and original music by Ryan Rumery.
