News Plunkett, Geer and Hinkle Star in New Group (naked)'s Jayson with a Y The New Group (naked), the division of the Off-Broadway troupe, will next present Darci Picoult's Jayson with a Y with Tony Award winner Maryann Plunkett, Kevin Geer and Marin Hinkle in the cast.

Sheryl Kaller (Adrift In Macao) directs the show, playing June 1-24 at Theatre Row's Lion Theatre. The official opening is June 13.

Jayson with a Y follows "two sisters in the midst of major changes in their lives, as they are forced to decide who will care for their suddenly orphaned nephew Jayson, who has Asperger's Syndrome," reads show materials. "Though Jayson is in desperate need of a stable environment, the women and their reluctant husbands struggle with a new reality that threatens to unravel the promises they made to his mother and each other long ago."

The actors charged with bringing this story to the stage will be Kevin Geer (Twelve Angry Men, Side Man), Marin Hinkle (Miss Julie, "Once And Again"), Daniel Oreskes (Aida, Terrorism), Maryann Plunkett (a Tomy winner for Me & My Girl), Miles Purinton (Trailerville, The Notebook) and Alysia Reiner (Pentecost, "Sideways").

The design team includes Adrian W. Jones (set), Amy Clark (costume), Russell Champa and Justin Partier (lighting) and Shane Rettig (sound). The production is presented by arrangement with Ina Lea Meibach and Jennifer Manocherian.

The lower-budget New Group division known as New Group (naked) presents two new plays each season "on a modest scale" that allows artists a place "free from commercial pressures." Last season's inaugural productions includes David Cale's A Likely Story and Barry Levey's Critical Darling. This season's staging of Michael Brandt's solo A Spalding Gray Matter currently plays through May 27 at Theatre Row's Clurman Theater.
