News "Police Academy" Star Michael Winslow Will Join Off-Broadway's Voca People Voca People, winner of the 2012 Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding Alternative Theatrical Experience, will welcome "Police Academy" star Michael Winslow for five performances beginning May 9 at New World Stages.

Winslow, an actor and comedian known for his ability to make realistic sound effects with his voice, will perform May 9 at 7 PM, May 13 at 5:30 PM, May 14 at 8 PM, May 16 at 7 PM and May 17 at 7 PM.

"I am very excited to perform with the Voca People on their musical quest to refuel their spaceship," said Winslow in a statement. "I have been a fan of the show since seeing these aliens on YouTube, and I can't wait to unite with them on stage."

Additionally, Voca People will now offer Voca Zone Seats, which allow audience members to be a part of the onstage action. The specially selected tickets are in areas where audience members are likely to be pulled on stage during the show. (Audience participation is not guaranteed.) A complimentary cocktail is included in the price of the ticket.

Created by Lior Kalfo and Shai Fishman, Voca People is produced by Doron Lida, Revital Kalfo, Leeorna Solomons and Eva Price. The Voca People, according to press notes, "believe music is the source of life that brings harmony, joy and refueling. A performance bursts with over 70 well known songs that create vocal 'fireworks' and leave audiences clapping along and snapping their fingers. Voca People is the musical theater event that bridges languages, cultures, and planets."

The musical has played sold-out tours through Europe, South America and the Middle East. The Off-Broadway production marked the first time Voca People have sung in America. The original cast recording of Voca People is available at the theatre.

Voca People features direction and choreography by Kalfo with musical direction and arrangements by Fishman. The creative team also includes lighting designer Roy Milo, sound designer Naor Ben Meir and costume designer Hana Yefet.

The performance schedule is Monday at 8 PM, Wednesday at 7 PM, Thursday at 7 PM, Friday at 8 PM, Saturday at 8 PM and Sunday at 5:30 PM.
