The singing actor, who has tried to avoid the question of his sexuality throughout his career, made the announcement on his official website.

Martin states, "I am proud to say that I am a fortunate homosexual man. I am very blessed to be who I am."

Ricky Martin, the New York Post previously reported, may play the role of Che, the part created on Broadway by Mandy Patinkin, in the upcoming Broadway revival of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's Evita.
