News Pope! An Epic Musical To Bless Fringe Fest Beginning Aug. 21 Pope! An Epic Musical, which depicts the media outcry over a Pope accused of committing a crime, will be presented at the Lucille Lortel Theatre Aug. 21-28 as part of The New York International Fringe Festival.

The show features book and lyrics by Justin Moran and music by Christopher Pappas. Greg Moran directs a cast including Ryan Nelson, Liz Bachman, Scott Hart, Michael Campbell, Joe Roufaeal, Travis Nelan, Molly Moran, Jennifer Lauren Brown and Zach Wobensmith. Adam Podd serves as musical director and Megan Farantinos is the show's choreographer.

According to press notes, "An idealistic young Pope is framed for a heinous crime and banished from the Vatican. The people, blinded by the media frenzy, allow a tyrannical archbishop to seize power. This new Pope tightens his iron fist. The people are disheartened and in despair: the world is crying out for a hero! Can young Pope reclaim his glory and be the hero the world needs?" The performance schedule is as follows: Aug. 21 at 12 PM, Aug. 21 at 7 PM, Aug. 23 at 4:15 PM, Aug. 25 at 3: 15 PM and Aug. 28 at 5:15 PM.
