News Portland Stage Company Speaks The Foreigner's Language Jan. 28-Feb. 20 Portland Stage Company opens Larry Shue's comedy, The Foreigner, Jan. 28 following previews from Jan. 25, in Portland, Maine.

The play about a painfully shy Brit taking a vacation in the remote Georgia woods — and pretending to not understand English — was recently revived Off-Broadway with Matthew Broderick in the title role. In Maine, the cast includes Moira Driscoll, Andrew Harris, James Noel Hoban, Mark Honan (in the title role), Daniel Noel, Jenn Thompson and Rufus Tureen. Performances continue to Feb. 20.

Portland Stage Company is the leading professional theatre in Northern New England. A mix of classic, recent and new works fills its stage. In fall 2004, the theatre presented the premiere of actor-writer John Cariani's Almost, Maine, a series of "quirky little love vignettes, set in the potato country of northern Maine."
