Larry Gelbart's play Power Failure will receive its New York debut at the Actors Studio Free Theatre at Raw Space Feb. 12. 1999. The play is set to run through March 7, 1999.

Gelbart, best known for his book to A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum and his writing for the TV series "M*A*S*H", is also the author of Sly Fox (an adaptation of Volpone), Mastergate and Jump.

The American Repertory Theatre in Cambridge MA made the first Power Failure when the La Ronde-structured play, about 10 people who indirectly damage each other and the universe, debuted May 24, 1991. That original production, recipient of a W. Alton Jones Foundation grant for New American Plays, was directed by Michael Engler.

Arthur Penn ("Bonnie and Clyde", "Little Big Man") will direct the New York production. Theatrical Index reports Donal Eastman as set designer, Mattie Ulrich as costume designer and Francys Burch as the production stage manager.
