News Power Outage Stops Paper Mill Guys and Dolls Performance; Show Goes on Today A blackout during the first few minutes of Guys and Dolls forced the Paper Mill Playhouse to cancel the June 9 performance.

Charlie Siedenburg, a spokesperson for the New Jersey theatre, told Playbill On-Line, "We were ten minutes into the show, and the cast was doing 'Fugue for Tinhorns.' There was a thunder-like noise in the sound system, and the lights went out. The three men eventually left the stage. They came back a few minutes later to say the show had been canceled, and they also brought with them [2004 Tony nominee] Karen Ziemba, [who portrays Adelaide]." Siedenburg said the theatre's air conditioning system was on "full blast" because of the unusually high temperatures. Although the theatre does have its own generator, it doesn't produce enough energy for an entire performance. Siedenburg added, "Our show is so hot that the lights went out." The musical is scheduled to play a 2 PM and an 8 PM performance today, June 10.

Kate Baldwin, Robert Cuccioli, Michael Mastro and Tony winner Karen Ziemba head the Paper Mill cast as, respectively, Sarah Brown, Sky Masterson, Nathan Detroit and Miss Adelaide. The Frank Loesser musical will play the Paper Mill through July 18. With direction by Stafford Arima, choreography by Patti Wilcox and musical direction by Tom Helm, the creative team also includes Tony Walton (sets), Randall Klein (costume coordinator), F. Mitchell Dana (lights) and Duncan Robert Edwards (sound).

Paper Mill Playhouse is located on Brookside Drive in Millburn, NJ. Tickets, priced $30-$67, are available by calling (973) 376-4343. For more information visit www.papermill.org.
