The New York City premiere of playwright David T. King's Big Cactus will close Oct. 7. The Flock Theatre Company production, which also marked King's New York debut, began previews at Off-Off-Broadway’s Currican Theatre Sept. 16 and opened Sept. 21.

Big Cactus tells the story of Bob. Bob makes coffee tables. Bob's wife makes money. Bob wants to make a difference with his life. So, in order to raise money to help the children of Chiapas, he offers his help and his pick-up truck to a Mexican revolutionary. Together they plan to poach rare cacti from the desert and sell them to wealthy Beverly Hills residents. Will it work?

Victoria Pero (Caryl Churchill's The After Dinner Joke) will direct a cast that includes Anthony DiMaria, Irene Glezos, Nick Gomez, Fred Burrell, and Mark Hofmaier. Designers includes Jesse Poleshuck (sets), Edward Pierce (lights), Dan Lawson (costumes), and Jeffrey Lee (sound).

Other Flock Theatre productions have included Top Girls, A Lie of the Mind, Antigone, and The Rose Tattoo. Cactus marks their return after turning their attention to the development of new theatrical works.
