PlayBlog "Prepare Ye": Godspell Hits Times Square With Flash Mob Performance (Video) Godspell began previews at the Circle in the Square Theatre Oct. 13 and will officially open on Broadway Nov. 7. In celebration of the show's return to New York, a flash mob broke out in Times Square over the weekend. Dancers hit the streets in the heart of the theatre district to dance to the musical number "Day by Day."

The musical also features classic songs such as “Turn Back, O Man,” “Learn Your Lessons Well,” “Prepare Ye” and “Light of the World,” among others. Godspell—a hip musical re-telling of the New Testament’s Gospel of Matthew—made its New York City premiere in May 1971.

In the revival, Hunter Parrish, who made his Broadway debut in Spring Awakening and is best known for his work on the Showtime series “Weeds,” stars as Jesus. He is joined by a cast that includes Uzo Aduba, Nick Blaemire, Celisse Henderson, Morgan James, Joaquina Kalukango, Eric Michael Krop, Telly Leung, Julia Mattison, Lindsay Mendez, George Salazar, Wallace Smith and Anna Maria Perez de Tagle.
