Carroll won a Tony Award for No Strings and a Golden Globe for the sitcom "Julia," for which she also received an Emmy nod. Known for her work in the musicals House of Flowers and Sunset Boulevard and on television in "Dynasty," "Grey's Anatomy" and "White Collar," she also received an Oscar nomination for "Claudine" and appeared in the film versions of "Porgy and Bess" and "Carmen Jones."
