The Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize-winning play by John Patrick Shanley, directed by Doug Hughes, welcomes three new cast members that day: Malone (who replaces Tony nominee Heather Goldenhersh), Ron Eldard (replacing Tony nominee Brían F. O'Byrne as Father Flynn) and Eileen Atkins (replacing Tony winner Cherry Jones as Sister Aloysius). Adriane Lenox, who won the 2005 Tony for Best Featured Actress (Play) as Mrs. Muller, remains with the production, at the Walter Kerr Theatre.
Malone stars as Lydia Bennett in the current hit film version of "Pride and Prejudice."
Malone will be seen in the upcoming releases, "Lying," "The Go-Getter," "The Container" and "Four Last Songs." Her television credits include "Origins of Evil," "The Ballad of Lucy Whipple," "Hope" (Golden Globe nomination), "Ellen Foster" (Young Artist Award winner), "Bastard Out of Carolina" (opposite Ron Eldard) and "Hidden in America."
Cherry Jones, Brían F. O'Byrne and Heather Goldenhersh will play their final performance on Jan. 8.
The Walter Kerr Theatre is at 219 W. 48th Street.
"Set against the backdrop of a Bronx Catholic school in 1964, Doubt is the story of a strong-minded woman faced with a difficult decision," according to the producers. "Should she voice concerns about one of her male colleagues…even if she's not entirely certain of the truth?"
