Primary Stages will honor Tony Award winner Patti LuPone and Broadway producers The Baruch-Routh-Frankel-Viertel Group at its upcoming 24th anniversary gala benefit.

The event will be held at the Grand Hyatt Hotel Oct. 27.

"Our Gala is a night to honor people who have made significant contributions to the theatre," stated Primary Stages artistic director Andrew Leynse in a release. "We are thrilled to have this opportunity to honor Patti LuPone and The Baruch-Routh-Frankel-Viertel Group. Patti is a phenomenal actor who consistently brings excitement and life to the productions she works on. And, The Baruch-Routh-Frankel-Viertel team, continue to champion and support new works both on and Off-Broadway and throughout the world."

LuPone earned the 2008 Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical for her current turn in the revival of Gypsy. The honor is her second following her Tony her Evita in 1980. The actress has also played in Sunset Boulevard, Anything Goes, Oliver!, Working, The Old Neighborhood, Master Class and Pal Joey as well as in West End productions of Les Misérables and The Cradle Will Rock. She was previously seen on Broadway as Mrs. Lovett in the recent revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd.

The Baruch-Routh-Frankel-Viertel Group — comprised of Steven Baruch, Marc Routh, Richard Frankel and Thomas Viertel — is currently represented on Broadway by Hairspray, Gypsy and Young Frankenstein . The group also presents Stomp (in New York and beyond) and Hairspray in London.

Past recipients of the honor have included Daryl Roth and Jack O'Brien (2007), Julie Harris (2006), Susan Stroman (2005), Horton Foote and Primary Stages founder and executive producer Casey Childs (2004), Harvey Fierstein (2003), A.R. Gurney (2001), John Guare (2000), Betty Comden and Adolph Green (1998) and Stephen Sondheim (1997). Primary Stages is currently the resident company at 59E59 Theaters. The company now presents the New York premiere of A.R. Gurney 's Buffalo Gal (through Aug. 30). Next will be Lee Blessing's A Body of Water, Daniel Jenkins and Robert Stanton's Love Child, Donald Margulies' Shipwrecked! An Entertainment — The Amazing Adventures of Louis de Rougemont (As Told By Himself) and Tina Howe's Chasing Manet.
