Fela!, according to press notes, "tells the true story of the legendary Nigerian musician Fela Kuti, whose soulful Afrobeat rhythms ignited a generation. Motivated by his mother, a civil rights champion, he defied a corrupt and oppressive military government and devoted his life and music to the struggle for freedom and human dignity. Fela! is a triumphant tale of courage, passion and love, featuring Fela Kuti’s captivating music."
Tour performances include July 20-Aug. 28 in United Kingdom at Sadler's Wells Theatre; Sept. 13-Oct. 9 in Washington, DC, at Sidney Harman Hall; Oct. 11-16 in Atlanta, GA, at the Atlanta Civic Center; Oct. 20-23 in New Haven, CT, at the Shubert Theater; Feb. 14-March 4 in Detroit, MI, at the Detroit Music Hall; March 20-25 in Philadelphia, PA, at the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts; and April 25-June 3 in Los Angeles, CA, at the Ahmanson Theatre.
