Directed by Bryan Close, the Process Group cast will feature Jenny Grace as Linda Rotunda, Rebecca Whitehurst as Denise Savage, Robert Bray as Tony Aronica, Brooke Delaney as April White and Henry Zebrowski as Murk.
Savage In Limbo, according to press materials, "begins in an 80's Bronx bar with Murk, a baby-faced bartender with a wooden foot, and his regular costumer, April White, a failed nun. Soon Denise Savage — who is still a virgin at 32 — stomps into the bar, searching vainly for action. The action arrives with Linda Rotunda, who has the opposite situation. Linda has had too much sex and enters crying in fear that she is losing her 'Monday night workout,' Tony Aronica. The Italian stud comes bursting in shortly thereafter to explain, as only he can, why he wants to leave Linda for 'ugly girls' who 'know things that he don't.' Seeing the kind of action she's looking for, Denise makes a play for Tony. Things get really interesting as April's serenity becomes hysteria, Murk fights to keep glasses filled and two proposals of marriage get slapped on the table."
David Bengali will design both sets and lighting for the production.
In addition to his Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning Doubt, John Patrick Shanley has penned Danny and the Deep Blue Sea, Defiance and The Dreamer Examines His Pillow, as well as the Oscar-winning screenplay for "Moonstruck" and the upcoming film adaptation of Doubt, which he also directs; Meryl Streep, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Amy Adams star in the latter.
Savage in Limbo will continue through Nov. 4 at the DUO Theater, located at 62 East 4th Street in Manhattan. Tickets are available by calling (212) 868-4444 or by visiting www.smarttix.com.
