The Culture Project is offering theatre fans a chance to witness the rehearsal process of British director Max Stafford-Clark, as he directs a workshop of Thomas Kilroy's adaptation of Anton Chekhov's The Seagull.

Rehearsals are scheduled for Monday-Friday, April 23-May 11. Each rehearsal lasts 75 minutes; space is limited to 20 people per rehearsal.

The cast features Stella Feehily, Sam Robards, Trudie Styler and Mickey Sumner.

This version of The Seagull is set in the West of Ireland in the late nineteenth century. Kilroy's Seagull, according to press notes, is a "dazzling reappraisal of Chekhov's first great comedy, a story of a distinguished actress and her passionate, lonely son. In the decline of Anglo-Irish estates and the emergence of the Land League, Kilroy unearths fascinating parallels to the shifts in Russian society that inform Chekhov's original. This acclaimed adaptation illuminates the play's universal themes while revealing new social and political angles."

Tickets are priced $25, single ticket; $15, student ticket; day pass, $60; one-week pass, $200.

Culture Project is located at 45 Bleecker Street (at Lafayette Street). Tickets are available at CultureProject.org, by calling (866) 811-4111, or at Culture Project's box office, located at 45 Bleecker Street. For more information visit CultureProject.org.
