While Broadway is up and running, many Off-Broadway and Off-Off-Broadway theatres below midtown remain closed. This is the third day of performances that the Public has had to cancel since Hurricane Sandy struck the region. All performances at Joe's Pub are also canceled.

A representative for the Public told Playbill.com that all shows are currently still rehearsing to ensure that performances can resume once power is restored. City officials state that it could still be a few more days before lower Manhattan has power.

Richard Nelson's U.S. Election Day-set drama Sorry, which was to open on Nov. 6 (Election Night), is still on track to open as scheduled. The drama unfolds in real-time during election night. Previews were to begin Oct. 30, but all performances thus far have been canceled.

The Public Theater is also presenting Giant, the new musical featuring a score by Michael John LaChiusa and a book by Sybille Pearson; Fun Home, which is playing a sold-out run at the Public and has a score by Jeanine Tesori and a book by Lisa Kron; and Wild With Happy, the latest play from Tony Award-nominated actor-playwright Colman Domingo.
