News Public Theater Gets Wooster Group's Hamlet in October The Wooster Group's new multimedia production of Hamlet will begin at the Public Theater in October, following its current four-week run through March 25 at St. Ann's Warehouse in Brooklyn.

The production — directed by the company's artistic director, Elizabeth LeCompte — includes scenes from a rarely-seen filmed performance of Richard Burton's legendary 1964 Broadway portrayal of the famed Shakespeare character.

The cast at St. Ann's, all of whom are expected to return for the Public Theater version, includes Scott Shepherd as Hamlet and Kate Valk as both Gertrude and Ophelia, along with Roy Faudree, Ari Fliakos, Daniel Pettrow, Casey Spooner and Judson Williams.

Additional Wooster Group artists and associates contributing to the piece include Geoff Abbas, Ruud van den Akker, Ariella Beth Bowden, John Collins, Jim Dawson, Dan Dobson, Joby Emmons, Reid Farrington, Warren Fischer, Teresa Hartmann, Anna Henckel-Donnersmarck, Claudia Hill, Felix Ivanov, Bozkurt Karasu, Adam Kimmel, Gabe Maxson, Matt Schloss, Natalie Thomas, Matt Tierney and Jennifer Tipton.

The production has also been performed in Barcelona, Paris and Berlin as the Wooster Group develops its work over extended periods of time, presenting the work in various stages of its evolution. The Public production will mark the first time the production is made available to critics.

The Wooster Group's other shows include The Emperor Jones, Brace Up!, House/Lights and To You, the Birdie (Phèdre).
