The Public Theater has announced that this year’s gala will celebrate some of the theatre’s most beloved and groundbreaking musicals of the last 50 years. The annual gala will be held June 5 at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park.

Among the performers will be original Off-Broadway Hamilton stars Brian d’Arcy James, Christopher Jackson, and Phillipa Soo.

Titled Hair to Hamilton: 50 Years of Revolutionary Musicals, the evening will feature a 90-minute concert of songs. Also slated to perform are Nikki M. James, Sasha Allen, Sydney Lucas, Kevin Mambo, Britton Smith, Mary Testa, Akron Watson, and Juson Williams. More casting will be announced at a later date.

The concert will feature songs from Hamilton, Hair, A Chorus Line, Fun Home, Runaways, The Pirates of Penzance, and more. The evening will be directed by Daniel Sullivan, with musical direction by Rob Fisher.

Julia Pershan and Julio Peterson will serve as gala co-chairs for the event, which will honor LuEsther T. Mertz for her contributions to The Public Theater.
