Running April 13-June 29, the free staged readings are the culmination of the Public Theater's inaugural Emerging Writers Group, which was launched in 2008. The 12 writers receive artistic support from Public staff members, including master classes and a biweekly writers group helmed by associate artistic director Mandy Hackett.

The schedule for the Emerging Writers Group Spotlight Series includes American Myth, written by Christina Gorman and directed by Mark Brokaw (April 13); The River Nun, written by Chris Cragin and directed by Tea Alagic (April 15); Luther, written by Ethan Lipton and directed by Leigh Silverman (April 20); and I Stand Corrected, written by Akin Salawu (April 30).

May readings feature Red Flamboyant, written by Don Nguyen and directed by Joanna Settle (May 4); The October Crisis (To Laura), written by Alejandro Morales (May 11); and Indio, written by Aladdin Ullah and directed by Hal Brooks (May 18).

The final works, which will be presented in June, are Red Rooster, written by Pia Wilson and directed by Liesl Tommy (June 1); S/He, written by Nick Hadikwa Mwaluko and directed by Niegel Smith (June 8); Nannyland written by Radha Blank (June 15); Mission, written by Raul Castillo (June 22); and In the Crossing, written by Leila Buck and directed by Shana Gold (June 29).
